Key takeaways
- Filtration Stage: Look for filters with at least a 3-stage system, typically including a pre-filter, a True HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter. The pre-filter captures larger particles like fur, the HEPA filter traps microscopic allergens down to 0.3 microns, and the carbon filter neutralizes odors.
- HEPA Grade: Ensure the HEPA filter is H13 grade or higher for maximum allergen capture efficiency.
- Pet-Specific Features: A dedicated “Pet Allergy” or “Pet Care” filter designation usually means it has enhanced activated carbon capabilities to combat pet-related odors more effectively.
- Compatibility: Always double-check that the replacement filter is compatible with your specific Levoit air purifier model (e.g., Core 300, Core 300-P, Core 300S).
- Filter Lifespan and Pack Size: Consider the recommended replacement interval (typically 6-8 months) and whether purchasing a multi-pack will offer better value for your needs.
